Jim's Story

Jim is a well-respected barrister, nationally recognised for his technical knowledge in personal injury law, with a particular emphasis on occupational disease cases.

His expertise extends across all areas of personal injury work, including employer’s liability and complex cases involving military personnel. Jim's unique insights stem from his decade-long service as a Major in the Royal Marines Commandos, an experience that proves invaluable, especially in cases related to military accidents, though also in any case involving an employer/ employee relationship.

Since 2020, Jim has been a member of the Attorney General’s Panel of Counsel, representing public bodies in personal injury matters. He also coordinates the Industrial Disease Group within his chambers, where he is involved in providing training and support to instructing solicitors. His role underscores his dedication to the legal profession and his desire to support ongoing education and practice development within his speciality.

Jim is committed to forging strong, effective partnerships with both solicitors and clients. He is known for his practical application of the law, tailored to the individual circumstances of each case, which routinely yields excellent results. This approach has made him a popular choice of counsel among both claimants and defendants, appreciated for his ability to clearly communicate and set a strategy for the best possible outcomes.

In embracing modern technology, Jim has adopted a paperless working environment for several years, favouring the efficiency and accessibility of electronic document handling. This adaptability not only enhances his professional practice but also reflects his commitment to sustainable and efficient legal processes.

Outside of his demanding legal career, Jim leads an active lifestyle. He has completed four Ironman triathlons and is kept busy by his young family and his enthusiastic black Labrador - Chief.
